Dear Church,
As I’ve spent time prepping this series on why we know Jesus really lived, died and rose, I’ve been struck by the great privilege it is to be sharing this news with others. Not only can we have great confidence in the good news we have received, but we can be confident as we share this with others. I hope you’ve been able to take away a couple of points on how you might speak more confidently with others about who Jesus is and what he has done.
The Trinity Church Brighton Leadership Team had our monthly meeting last night. Our present focus is to consider how we might be more active as a church in talking with others about Jesus: engaging in conversations about the hope we have in Jesus; inviting people to church; creating other opportunities for people to explore faith in Jesus. We’ve noticed that the number of visitors we have at church has dropped off over the last 12 months. There could be all kinds of factors that contribute to this, but it would be good for us to consider whether there are things that we can change to turn this around. In particular, our leadership is praying along the lines of Colossians 4:2-6 that we looked at before Easter: asking God to open doors for us to share the gospel, granting us wisdom to make the most of every opportunity he gives and having conversation that is ‘full of grace, seasoned with salt’.
Will you join us in praying along these lines and let us know if you have any ideas too!
Cheers,
Simon
