Pastor’s Letter – October 5

Pastor’s Letter – October 5

Hello Church,

Do you find it hard to pray? Perhaps you find it hard to get started. Or you have so many questions about prayer that they can get in the way of actually doing it. Or youfeel like we’re just going over the same list of concerns that pop up in life. It’s no wonder that one of the only records that we have of Jesus’ disciples asking him to teach them a particular skill or activity was the question “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1). So, just as last week we reflected on how the Psalms inform our praise of God, so this week and next we’re thinking about how they inform our prayer.

And we want to put that into practice too. With the recent announcement of the Winter’s move from Brighton to plant a church in Goolwa, there is no better way for us to respond than in prayer. Please put Sunday October 19 in your diary to bring a plate of food to share for lunch after church, and then stick around to pray together. While you’ve got your diary open, put down 7:30-8:30pm, Monday November 10, for another gathering to pray. We have the great privilege of approaching the throne of grace with boldness in adoration, confession, thanksgiving and asking him to be powerfully at work in us and in his world. For his glory and our great joy.

Cheers,

Simon
