Pastor’s Letter – January 11

Hello Church,
Our family are glad to be back after a summer break and we’re really looking forward to catching up with our church family on Sunday. I’m excited to see how God grows us in 2026!
We’re kicking off in Matthew chapter 8 to simply put Jesus in front of us at the very start of the year. In Term 1 we’re making our way through Colossians, which pictures the growth of the gospel as being like a thriving tree bearing abundant fruit – both locally and globally. Right at the theological heart of Colossians is one of the most profound paragraphs in the Bible, in Col 1:15-20, where Paul praises the absolute supremacy of the Son of God. It’s deep stuff that will stretch our minds and fill our hearts, and provide plenty for us to reflecting on into Term 2 (when we’re thinking about how God’s heart of generosity shapes our own heart of generosity) and Term 3 (when we’re delving into the riches of the Nicene Creed). But all of this must be grounded in Jesus. We are nothing apart from him.
So, as you get your new year underway, will you keep your eyes fixed on Him? I look forward to seeing how God grows us as we do!
Your brother in Christ,
Simon
