Hello church,
I’d love you to pray for Trinity Youth that kicked off on Friday this week. With a great bunch of incoming grade 7s, the number of youth coming together from Brighton, Tonsley and Woodcroft has outgrown the space at Holdfast Bay Community Centre. So we’ve relocated to Sunrise Christian School, Marion. Thank God for the gospel-minded leadership at Sunrise who have been so kind to allow us to use their facilities. Please also thank God for the great bunch of leaders he has gathered together from across all three churches. I have the privilege of leading this wonderful team and we’re excited for a great year ahead. Finally, please pray for the youth themselves, that they would have a great time amongst peers, growing in faith in our Lord Jesus. And pray that they’d keep growing in confidence to invite friends from school to come and join them in learning more about our great Lord and Saviour. If you know of someone at high school who you’d like to invite along, you’ll find more info on our website: https://www.trinitybay.church/ministries/youth/
On a very different matter, I’ve realised I should correct something from my sermon on Sunday. It’s not a big deal – I just realised that in diverting from my notes I’d got a couple of details mixed up in my head. I said that Paul probably wrote Colossians while on his missionary visit to Ephesus. What I’d meant to say is that he’d most likely met Epaphras during this time, whilst he probably wrote the letter during his imprisonment in Rome later in his life. Like I said, it’s not a big deal, but I do think it’s important that you can trust the integrity of what is being said from the pulpit. And if you ever have any questions about what is said from the pulpit, don’t hesitate to ask! I’d love us to be a church like the Bereans, whom Paul visited in Acts 17 and “received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true”.
Your brother in Christ,
Simon
