Pastor’s Letter – May 8th

Dear Friends,

As I step into the role of Senior Pastor here at Trinity Church Brighton, I am very thankful for the wonderfully warm welcome my family and I have received. I hope you found last Sunday’s service as encouraging as we did. It was tremendous to meet so many people over lunch too. Thanks to all those who contributed to the day and to those who have been so kind in reaching out to us in various other ways. We’re delighted to be joining the church family and we look forward to getting to know everyone.

I also want to take this opportunity to say how thankful I am for and to Matt and Annika Winter. Aside from his patience with a very helpful (ongoing!) orientation process, it is evident that Matt has done an outstanding job as the Interim Senior Pastor these last 5 months. I am so thankful to God for his servant leadership and the evident love he and Annika have for you all.

It’s also clear that Trinity Church Brighton is a community of people who have been willing to jump in and step up in all sorts of ways and who love each other very well. I’m very thankful for the gospel partnership we now share and I’m excited to see how God might continue to grow us and use us all.

During a season of change, I think it’s really good for us to take some time going over the basics of why we do what we do, which is why we’re jumping into the book of Ephesians for term 2. Last Sunday we kicked off with a profound reminder of God’s incredible blessings to us in Christ. If you missed it in person, please take the time to listen to the sermon online as it helps set our bearings for the way forward. This Sunday we’re reminded of the great delight of simply knowing God better. I hope you can join us. And if we’ve not met yet, please do come and say g’day!

Your brother in Christ,
