Pastor’s Letter – January 7th

Hi All

Happy New Year! I hope you were able to enjoy some celebrations over the weekend and that you’re able to enjoy life at a slightly slower pace over this time where lots are on holidays and things have slowed down a bit.

We had a great time on New Years Eve as we had ‘all in church’, with everyone in together for a short simple service. Things will be similar again this Sunday with everyone in together again and a service that goes for around an hour.

We’ll continue with this journey we’ve now started with Jesus towards Jerusalem and the cross in the book of Mark. It’s going to be a great few months ahead as we hear Jesus teach, and observe what he did and said. This Sunday as I prepare I’m struck by how compelling this Jesus was! Our time in Mark also provides a great opportunitiy to invite a friend, a colleague or a neighbour to join us at church. While we always try and make church accessible to anyone, there’s something especially amazing about dealing directly with the accounts of Jesus.

Upcoming Dates:
As we head into the new year can I also let you know about a couple of things we have coming up in the calendar? Some good times ahead:

  • January 28th – BBQ After Church / Commissioning Paul and Bri Merenda. This will be a big Sunday for us as we welcome Paul and Bri to our church. Paul is joining us for the next two years as a Student Minister to get some experience while he studies at BCSA. We’ll celebrate with a BBQ / sausage sizzle after church.
  • February 4th – “Belong”. After church we’ll be holding a time together for those who are newer to our church or who haven’t come to something like this before. It’s a great chance to find out what makes us tick. More details to come, but put it in the diary if you’ve joined us in the past year or so and haven’t got to somthing like this before.
  • February 11th – Beach Picnic. A very open invite, low key invitation to come spend some time together on the Sunday evening. 4:30-7pm but really it’s come whenever and leave whenever! And BYO everything. Great chance to spend some time together as a community.
  • We’re also gearing up for our ‘Taste and See’ course which begins on Feburary 22nd. Details here: https://www.trinitybay.church/events/taste-and-see/

In Christ,
Matt
