Pastor’s Letter – February 4th

Pastor’s Letter – February 4th

G’day Church,

A few updates on our life together:
1. Paul Merenda
2. Beach Picnic
3. Taste and See
4. Mark Bible Studies

1. Last Sunday we welcomed Paul and Brianna Merenda as they join us for Paul to commence a Student Minister role with us as we invest in raising up the next generation of church leaders. Paul will be preaching from Mark 10 this Sunday, which I’m really looking forward to! You might like to consider an increase to your regular giving, or perhaps a one off gift, as an expression of your partnership with Paul in his journey towards vocational ministry. Please head to our giving page to find out how you can do that.

2. Next Sunday we’ve got a great chance to enjoy more time together as a church community with a beach picnic at Wattle Reserve. It’s BYO everything – including any friends you might like to introduce to your church family. Come anytime from 4:30pm-7:30pm, on the corner of The Esplanade and Wattle Ave, Hove.

3. I know what it feels like to stumble my way through an answer someone’s questions about Jesus. I also know what it’s like to have a great course that I can invite a friend to so that someone else explain the gospel with winsome clarity. That’s what Taste and See is: a chance for you to respond to your friend’s curly questions with something like “That’s a great question, and I know this great course where we’ll be able to hear that explained really clearly. Would you like to come along to it with me?” They don’t have to sign up for all four weeks – just encourage them to come to the first session and then decide if they want to come back for the next one. To help us prepare well for you and your friend, we need you to register, even if you’re not sure if your friend will end up coming! Info and Rego are on our website. You might also like to see the publisher’s website with some more info, or this trailer that explains it well.

4. Our Mark Bible studies are available for pickup on Sunday or for download here. This term we’ve decided to lean into Lent with a more reflective style of engaging with scripture, inviting us to repent and give thanks as we prepare to celebrate Easter.

Cheers,

Simon
